It all started when...
when they discovered diamonds! The man made hole at Kimberly or Kimberly Diamond Mine is quite something. Each man would have his own 10 square feet of space and just pray! The cliff sides were strewn with human beings all clambering for the big find.
At it's busiest there were ropes strewn all over the place for each man to get in and out. The biggest man made hole in the world Cecil Rhodes made his fortune here.
